Καὶ ὁ πέμπτος ἄγγελος ἐσάλπισε, καὶ εἶδον ἀστέρα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ πεπτωκότα εἰς τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἐδόθη αὐτῷ ἡ κλεὶς τοῦ φρέατος τῆς ἀβύσσου. 2καὶ ἤνοιξε τὸ φρέαρ τῆς ἀβύσσου, καὶ ἀνέβη καπνὸς ἐκ τοῦ φρέατος ὡς καπνὸς καμίνου μεγάλης, καὶ ἐσκοτίσθη ὁ ἥλιος καὶ ὁ ἀὴρ ἐκ τοῦ καπνοῦ τοῦ φρέατος. 3καὶ ἐκ τοῦ καπνοῦ ἐξῆλθον ἀκρίδες εἰς τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἐδόθη αὐταῖς ἐξουσία, ὡς ἔχουσιν ἐξουσίαν οἱ σκορπίοι τῆς γῆς. 4καὶ ἐρρέθη αὐταῖς ἵνα μὴ ἀδικήσωσι τὸν χόρτον τῆς γῆς. οὐδὲ πᾶν χλωρόν, οὐδὲ πᾶν δένδρον, εἰ μὴ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους μόνους οἵτινες οὐκ ἔχουσι τὴν σφραγῖδα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπὶ τῶν μετώπων αὐτῶν. 5καὶ ἐδόθη αὐταῖς ἵνα μὴ ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτούς, ἀλλ’ ἵνα βασανισθῶσι μῆνας πέντε· καὶ ὁ βασανισμὸς αὐτῶν ὡς βασανισμὸς σκορπίου, ὅταν παίσῃ ἄνθρωπον. 6καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ζητήσουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι τὸν θάνατον, καὶ οὐχ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτόν· καὶ ἐπιθυμήσουσιν ἀποθανεῖν, καὶ φεύξεται ὁ θάνατος ἀπ’ αὐτῶν. 7καὶ τὰ ὁμοιώματα τῶν ἀκρίδων ὅμοια ἵπποις ἡτοιμασμένοις εἰς πόλεμον, καὶ ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν ὡς στέφανοι ὅμοιοι χρυσῷ, καὶ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ὡς πρόσωπα ἀνθρώπων. 8καὶ εἶχον τρίχας ὡς τρίχας γυναικῶν, καὶ οἱ ὀδόντες αὐτῶν ὡς λεόντων ἦσαν. 9καὶ εἶχον θώρακας ὡς θώρακας σιδηροῦς, καὶ ἡ φωνὴ τῶν πτερύγων αὐτῶν ὡς φωνὴ ἁρμάτων ἵππων πολλῶν τρεχόντων εἰς πόλεμον. 10καὶ ἔχουσιν οὐρὰς ὁμοίας σκορπίοις, καὶ κέντρα ἦν ἐν ταῖς οὐραῖς αὐτῶν· καὶ ἡ ἐξουσία αὐτῶν ἀδικῆσαι τοὺς ἀνθρώπους μῆνας πέντε. 11καὶ ἔχουσιν ἐπ’ αὐτῶν βασιλέα τὸν ἄγγελον τῆς ἀβύσσου· ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἑβραϊστὶ Ἀβαδδών, κα ἐν τῇ Ἑλληνικῇ ὄνομα ἔχει Ἀπολλύων.

12Ἡ οὐαὶ ἡ μία ἀπῆλθεν· ἰδού, ἔρχονται ἔτι δύο οὐαὶ μετὰ ταῦτα.

13Καὶ ὁ ἕκτος ἄγγελος ἐσάλπισε, καὶ ἤκουσα φωνὴν μίαν ἐκ τῶν τεσσάρων κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ χρυσοῦ τοῦ ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ, 14λέγουσαν τῷ ἕκτῳ ἀγγέλῳ, ὃς εἶχε τὴν σάλπιγγα, Λῦσον τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀγγέλους τοὺς δεδεμένους ἐπὶ τῷ ποταμῷ τῷ μεγάλῳ Εὐφράτῃ. 15καὶ ἐλύθησαν οἱ τέσσαρες ἄγγελοι οἱ ἡτοιμασμένοι εἰς τὴν ὥραν καὶ ἡμέραν καὶ μῆνα καὶ ἐνιαυτόν, ἵνα ἀποκτείνωσι τὸ τρίτον τῶν ἀνθρώπων. 16καὶ ὁ ἀριθμὸς τῶν στρατευμάτων τοῦ ἱππικοῦ δύο μυριάδες μυριάδων· καὶ ἤκουσα τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτῶν. 17καὶ οὕτως εἶδον τοὺς ἵππους ἐν τῇ ὁράσει, καὶ τοὺς καθημένους ἐπ’ αὐτῶν, ἔχοντας θώρακας πυρίνους καὶ ὑακινθίνους καὶ θειώδεις· καὶ αἱ κεφαλαὶ τῶν ἵππων ὡς κεφαλαὶ λεόντων, καὶ ἐκ τῶν στομάτων αὐτῶν ἐκπορεύεται πῦρ καὶ καπνὸς καὶ θεῖον. 18ὑπὸ τῶν τριῶν πληγῶν τούτων ἀπεκτάνθησαν τὸ τρίτον τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἐκ τοῦ πυρὸς καὶ τοῦ καπνοῦ καὶ τοῦ θείου τοῦ ἐκπορευομένου ἐκ τῶν στομάτων αὐτῶν. 19ἡ γὰρ ἐξουσία αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ στόματι αὐτῶν ἐστί, καὶ ἐν ταῖς οὐραῖς αὐτῶν· αἱ γὰρ οὐραὶ αὐτῶν ὅμοιαι ὄφεσιν, ἔχουσαι κεφαλάς, καὶ ἐν αὐταῖς ἀδικοῦσι. 20καὶ οἱ λοιποὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, οἳ οὐκ ἀπεκτάνθησαν ἐν ταῖς πληγαῖς ταύταις, οὐ μετενόησαν ἐκ τῶν ἔργων τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν, ἵνα μὴ προσκυνήσωσι τὰ δαιμόνια, καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ χρυσᾶ καὶ τὰ ἀργυρᾶ καὶ τὰ χαλκᾶ καὶ τὰ λίθινα καὶ τὰ ξύλινα, ἃ οὔτε βλέπειν δύναται οὔτε ἀκούειν, οὔτε περιπατεῖν· 21καὶ οὐ μετενόησαν ἐκ τῶν φόνων αὐτῶν, οὔτε ἐκ τῶν φαρμακειῶν αὐτῶν, οὔτε ἐκ τῆς πορνείας αὐτῶν, οὔτε ἐκ τῶν κλεμμάτων αὐτῶν.

Kai ho pemptos angelos esalpise, kai eidon astera ek tou ouranou peptōkota eis tēn gēn, kai edothē autō hē kleis tou phreatos tēs abyssou. 2kai ēnoixe to phrear tēs abyssou, kai anebē kapnos ek tou phreatos hōs kapnos kaminou megalēs, kai eskotisthē ho hēlios kai ho aēr ek tou kapnou tou phreatos. 3kai ek tou kapnou exēlthon akrides eis tēn gēn, kai edothē autais exousia, hōs echousin exousian hoi skorpioi tēs gēs. 4kai errethē autais hina mē adikēsōsi ton chorton tēs gēs. oude pan chlōron, oude pan dendron, ei mē tous anthrōpous monous hoitines ouk echousi tēn sphragida tou Theou epi tōn metōpōn autōn. 5kai edothē autais hina mē apokteinōsin autous, all’ hina basanisthōsi mēnas pente; kai ho basanismos autōn hōs basanismos skorpiou, hotan paisē anthrōpon. 6kai en tais hēmerais ekeinais zētēsousin hoi anthrōpoi ton thanaton, kai ouch heurēsousin auton; kai epithymēsousin apothanein, kai pheuxetai ho thanatos ap’ autōn. 7kai ta homoiōmata tōn akridōn homoia hippois hētoimasmenois eis polemon, kai epi tas kephalas autōn hōs stephanoi homoioi chrysō, kai ta prosōpa autōn hōs prosōpa anthrōpōn. 8kai eichon trichas hōs trichas gynaikōn, kai hoi odontes autōn hōs leontōn ēsan. 9kai eichon thōrakas hōs thōrakas sidērous, kai hē phōnē tōn pterygōn autōn hōs phōnē harmatōn hippōn pollōn trechontōn eis polemon. 10kai echousin ouras homoias skorpiois, kai kentra ēn en tais ourais autōn; kai hē exousia autōn adikēsai tous anthrōpous mēnas pente. 11kai echousin ep’ autōn basilea ton angelon tēs abyssou; onoma autō Hebraisti Abaddōn, ka en tē Hellēnikē onoma echei Apollyōn.

13Kai ho hektos angelos esalpise, kai ēkousa phōnēn mian ek tōn tessarōn keratōn tou thysiastēriou tou chrysou tou enōpion tou Theou, 14legousan tō hektō angelō, hos eiche tēn salpinga, Lyson tous tessaras angelous tous dedemenous epi tō potamō tō megalō Euphratē. 15kai elythēsan hoi tessares angeloi hoi hētoimasmenoi eis tēn hōran kai hēmeran kai mēna kai eniauton, hina apokteinōsi to triton tōn anthrōpōn. 16kai ho arithmos tōn strateumatōn tou hippikou dyo myriades myriadōn; kai ēkousa ton arithmon autōn. 17kai houtōs eidon tous hippous en tē horasei, kai tous kathēmenous ep’ autōn, echontas thōrakas pyrinous kai hyakinthinous kai theiōdeis; kai hai kephalai tōn hippōn hōs kephalai leontōn, kai ek tōn stomatōn autōn ekporeuetai pyr kai kapnos kai theion. 18hypo tōn triōn plēgōn toutōn apektanthēsan to triton tōn anthrōpōn, ek tou pyros kai tou kapnou kai tou theiou tou ekporeuomenou ek tōn stomatōn autōn. 19hē gar exousia autōn en tō stomati autōn esti, kai en tais ourais autōn; hai gar ourai autōn homoiai ophesin, echousai kephalas, kai en autais adikousi. 20kai hoi loipoi tōn anthrōpōn, hoi ouk apektanthēsan en tais plēgais tautais, ou metenoēsan ek tōn ergōn tōn cheirōn autōn, hina mē proskynēsōsi ta daimonia, kai ta eidōla ta chrysa kai ta argyra kai ta chalka kai ta lithina kai ta xylina, ha oute blepein dynatai oute akouein, oute peripatein; 21kai ou metenoēsan ek tōn phonōn autōn, oute ek tōn pharmakeiōn autōn, oute ek tēs porneias autōn, oute ek tōn klemmatōn autōn.

And from the smoke there emerged grasshoppers (and they went out) upon the Earth, and they were given the (same) authority as the authority of the scorpions of the Earth. And they were told to not harm the grass of the Earth, nor any (all) green things nor any (all) tree, except for (they were allowed to harm) the humans who do not have the seal of God upon their foreheads.

And it was given to them (the grasshoppers) so that they might not kill them (the unsealed), but so that they shall be tormented for five months; and their torment (was) like the torment of a scorpion when he strikes a person. And in those days, men will seek Death but shall not find him; they will yearn to die, but Death flees from them.

And the appearance of the grasshoppers was like that of horses preparing (themselves to go) into battle and upon their heads are (placed things that look) crowns — (which are in appearance) like gold — and their faces are like the faces of men; and they have a mane (hairs) like the hair of women and their teeth were like (those) of lions. And they had breastplates (which looked) like iron breastplates and the voice (sound) of the their wings (was) as the voice of a chariot of horses marching into battle (going to war).

And they have tails like (those of) scorpions and (they also have) stings (at the end of their tails?). And in their tails (is) the authority to hurt (all) the humans for five months. And they have (sitting?) upon them a king — the angel of the abyss — whose name, in Hebrew, is Abaddon and in the Greek language he has the name Apollyon. The first Woe departed — (but) look! There are coming yet two more Woes hereafter.

And the sixth angel sounded (his trumpet). And I heard a voice (emerging) from the four horn of the golden altar before God telling the sixth angel — the one holding the trumpet —, “Release the four angels, the ones that are bound to (in) the great river Euphrates.” And the four angels were released, namely the ones who prepared (themselves) for the hour and the day and the year (during which) they might kill a third of the humans. And the number of the army of horsemen two-hundred thousand thousands; I heard their number.

And thus (in this manner) I saw the horses in the vision and (I also saw those those) who sit upon them, having fiery, hyacinthine (purple) and brimstone-like (colour of sulfur) breastplates. And the heads of the horses (were) as the heads of lions, and from their mouths sprang forth fire and smoke and brimstone (sulfur).

A third of the human (race) died from these three plagues — from the fire, and the smoke and the brimstone (sulfur) which sprang forth from their mouths. For the power (authority) of the horses is (placed) in(side) their mouth and in(side) their tails. For their tails are like snakes with (having) heads — and in (using them) they (do) harm.

And the remaining humans, those who did neither die from those plagues nor repented of the works of their (own) hands that they should not worship demons and golden, silver, copper, wooden or stone idols — who (the idols) can neither see nor listen nor walk about; and (those humans who) neither repented of their (committed) murders nor of their drug-usage (magic, sorcery) nor of their sexual immorality nor of their (committed) thefts.
